Scripture Union Daily Guide 11th May 2025 Outline
Christ died to set us free from the demands of the law which nobody can keep entirely without breaking some. Living by the law nullifies the power of the death of Christ on the cross so that Christ would be of no consequence to us. Notice the stern warning Paul gives the Christians in Galatia and us today in Galatians 5:2-4.
Without Christ we reject God’s plan of our salvation. Circumcision or no circumcision is of no consequence to our faith in Christ. But faith in Christ sets us free to live in His grace, knowing that the burden and fear of breaking the law was removed so that we live in true love for our God, doing what pleases Him because we love and appreciate what He did for us on the cross. Do you feel keeping the law is the way to go?
The race to heaven requires that we pursue it with zeal and consistency (Galatians 5:7-9). Notice the warning in Galatians 5:10. What did Jesus say about this in Matthew 18:6?

Christ Jesus hath the power
1. Christ Jesus hath the power,
The power to forgive,
The power to quicken whom He will,
And make the sinner live.
Christ Jesus hath the power,
O tell it far and near!
O bring to Him your guilty heart,
And grace shall banish fear!
Refrain
2. Christ Jesus hath the power,
The power of God He wields!
Christ Jesus hath the power,
My heart surrender yields!
Christ Jesus hath the power,
I trust Him evermore!
Christ Jesus hath the power,
I worship and adore!
3. Christ Jesus hath the power,
The power to renew,
The power to cleanse your heart from sin,
And make you wholly true.
Christ Jesus hath the power
For evermore to keep;
O none can pluck you from His hand,
Or rob Him of His sheep!
4. Christ Jesus hath the power,
The power to console,
The power to carry all your care—
On Him your burdens roll.
Christ Jesus hath the power,
To wipe the tear away;
O place in Him your confidence!
O trust Him, and obey!
5. Christ Jesus hath the power,
The power to destroy,
The power to bruise your enemy
Who would your soul annoy.
Christ Jesus hath the power,
When on your dying bed,
To give your soul the victory,
The power to raise the dead!
Closing Prayer:
My heavenly Father, help me never to slide into legalism as I run the race to heaven.
